So, after a whole couple of weeks with the SH2 and two wifi discs there are a catalogue of issues that have not yet been technically resolved, and thus far neither online research or the technical team have been able to satisfactorily resolve (ie fix the problem without temporary work arounds). BT even closed my fault, even though none of the technical issues (particularly getting the BT and Sky mesh networks to work as designed) being actually resolved.
1. There are compatibility issues with my Sky Q tv mesh (I have a 2TB main box, 3 minis with a repeater). When connecting via wifi the Sky Q box would connect and immediately disconnect from either the disc or the main SH2.
To temporarily resolve this I have had to:
This is still not inherently stable and requires constant rebooting
2. When a device connects to another disc or the main SH2, rather than the disc that my office printers are connected to, then the ability to airprint disappears and printing via wifi is wholly unreliable (I run a Brother HL-L826OCDW for voulme printing and a Canon TS8150 for photo and bespoke printing)
3. When moving around the house, wifi drops out when changing from Disc to disc - I cannot work this one out and it totally defeats having a single network.
I am thinking that regressing back to the HH6 (SH1) with split 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks and powerline ac hotspots is the more stable way to go.
Some advice from someone who can explain how the firmware works would be most useful. Even better, tell me how this should work "out of the box" and why it does not.
Thank you
That's interesting because separating the two bandwidths resolved previous conflicts between Sky Q and my HH6. It does not make logical sense, but........
Hardwiring into the disc does give some indication as to how Sky set's up its mesh (which is a separate 5Ghz mesh - irrespective of whether you ahve a 5GHz network) as all the devices show as wired, albeit only the main box is. Without the SKy engineer and his tablet, I can determine the order of connection of the mesh network, but it will run something along the lines of Sky Q main box -> booster-> mini 1-> mini 2 -> mini 3.
There is a conflict in the allocation of IP addresses between the SH2 nd the Q if trying to do under WiFi. Call Sky they tell you it is a known problem and BTs fault, call BT and there it is withthe tech team who cannot replicate the fault.
I will see what happens if i take the Sky Booster out of the network, however I pay for complete WiFi connection and this is not being delivered!
Just recieved my complete home wifi with one disk . All in all it seems pretty good, but it appears that I keep moving from the 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz. I have my smarthub 2 in the same room as my macbook pro is there anyway I can ensure that it stays on the preffered 5Ghz connection?
Also the disk is in the bedroom. When I used my ipad in the bedroom I checked the disc on my bt and it showed no connected devices on the bedroom disk so did a speed test and the result was about 20mb less than my usual 65mb download speed?
Can you please advise how to set up router and disk for best results. Forgot to say the disk is shown as a exellent connection?
Can you please advice on best setup?
Thanks

From my own observations when using the iPad. It’s moveable device- unlike a desktop pc which is stationary.
If you connect to WiFi near to the hub, then the connection is made to the hub, most likely at 5Ghz as priority is given to fastest connection.
If you move around the house, the iPad will stay connected to the hub, unless you move out of range. Then it reverts to 2.4 GHz to the hub if it’s still in range.
The only way to force a connection to the disc is to disable Wi-fi (airplane mode) in iPad settings, and the re enable Wi-fi. iPad should then connect to disc.
Take the disk to the router, connect the disk to the router using the cable provided, once they connect to each other unplug cable and plug in the disk in sny socket, but don't keep moving the disk around, just leave it one spot. Mines plugged into a socket on my landing, that's what I did as I have an iPad too as one of my devices. The instructions in the box are easy to follow.
Hi Sean,
I will start by admitting that I haven't read every single post in this thread, but I have just set up a new BT Complete Wi-Fi system using a Smart Hub 2 router, with a couple of Wi-Fi discs.
Can I ask if there has been a firmware update for this router recently, and if so what is the latest version to be released, as I am sure that mine has changed within the last few days.
Thanks!

The firmware updates a day or so after initial install.
Firmware is Vo12.02.11078-BT
I'm torn now. Had Ultrafast installed yesterday, so got the new Superhub 2 as well, and while it is a much better wi-fi signal than my HH5, it doesn't quite reach one crucial place.
There is no delicate way of putting this, it is just a touch too weak to reach the toilet! My flat is really long and there are 4 brick walls and 2 plasterboard walls between the router and the bathroom. So do I stump up a fiver a month for complete wi-fi, or are the white discs I have seen on Amazon the same thing?
Give it a couple of days, you may find the system goes off and comes on again as BT have to do their bit of the installation.
