Hi Paddy
I have had the same problem too but a different slant which may be helpful.
BT email does not recognise the email contacts (in my contacts) when I reply to an email - get the error message which says there is no domain. To start with I was able to delete the address that I was sending to and put it in again and it was fine as long as I was quick. The last two days it has got progressively worse.. What ever I do, it will not send when using the mobile signal when out - need to get back on wifi. Had been OK with my desktop but today will not send unless I do it really quickly before the autosave, I am now using my work email (gmail which is fine).
Keenly awaiting a solution.
Have checked my contacts details - no comma's. Had only one address that I was replying to. Suspect the autosave as the one that I did send was a quick acknowledgement.
Still have the problem with the autosave of word which is with the email team and not yet resolved.
HI All - thanks for the support in trying to resolve this - I have looked at contacts and can't locate commas in them, it is possibly me looking properly!
Either way I have found a good solution on my MAC desktop - I simply use mail from the IOS applications. It was easy to install my BT account and I won't need to use webmail at home. Naturally when I start moving around the world again...webmail will be invaluable. So hopefully it will be resolved eventually.
All the best
Have the same problem. Can send it from my phone . . . . but that's not very helpful 😞
I am literally tearing my hair out. BT email is sooooooo completely useless. I can no longer 'reply all' to various group emails plus a million other issues that have already been documented. Please sort it out BT.
I sympathise as am in a similar position. It has gone on for a couple of weeks. Why no update from BT?
Problem still occurring on webmail - but for now I am working around this - I had a call from BT yesterday. Just about to call them back - will be interesting to see what they say. I will post any relevant news later
I'm as frustrated as hell. Everything has gone wrong since I was forced off BT Yahoo. Bt said they would call me back to help on code 501. I missed the call by struggling with call guard. I hold on 20 mins on average to speak to BT, they wait a nano second when they call me, and, I gave a mobile number as well.
My experience - receive an e mail, click reply, or reply all, error 501. Type the same addresses in, off it goes no 501.
Compose e mail, enter name in address box, up comes the address, click send, error code 501. Type in same address, click send, off it goes.
I can't work like this BT. Please do something.
Rex
Hi All,
We have been testing and the comma inside of the contact name (not the email address) is causing problems when sending mail.
We have a script which will be ran shortly that should correct all email addresses that have contacts with the comma present.
I will post back once that script is complete so please do feedback when I do this. (FYI, users on this thread are on the list)
Note: I also suspect there is another problem when replying to an email address that is not a contact, it would be helpful if anyone experiencing this problem can supply a screenshot to me in a private message of either the error itself after pressing send, or the 'To:', 'Cc:' and 'Bcc' Fields.
