BT Answer 1571 seems to take an excessive time to actually get going once it's kicked in.
Now, please understand I am not talking about the number of rings, but I am talking about the duration of silence before it starts speaking - it's about 8 seconds.
Customer services have told my parents this is perfectly normal, and there is nothing wrong with the system.
Well, here's a recording - the first part is a regular "answer after ring"; then after the beep, the second recording is what happens when they are on the phone.
I've not heard a delay like that on anyone else's line. Given that it takes approximately half a day each time to explain to CS that the delay is not the same as number of rings, is there some trick or star code they can dial to reset it their end?
Hi @lardconcepts and thanks for posting.
I don't think there's much we can do about this to be honest. What type of phone do your parents have? Does it have a seprate call minder or answer message? You can find help with 1571 at All about BT Answer 1571 voicemail so take a look and let me know if that helps.
They actually have a BT Big Button phone, but it wouldn't matter what type of phone it was as Call Minder runs on the network, not the phone.
So, out of interest, do YOU think 8 seconds delay is "normal"?
We'll be able to check into it for you. You can get in touch with us by clicking on my user name and then on contact the mods. We can test the line and see if we get the same delay.
Never - it's always been BT.
As far as what it says when it answers, as can be heard in the audio in the first link, it says:
"Welcome to BT answer 1571"
