I use Windows Live Mail and have done for years, it has always worked fine but recently it has started to play up a lot and every couple of weeks I need to change my password to get emails.
I also get this message:
Unable to send or receive messages for the Btinternet (******) account. Header download for the 'Bulk Mail' folder did not complete. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Server Response: Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.
Server: 'mail.btinternet.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Secure(SSL): Yes
This error comes up at all different times, it can work fine for a few days then the message or it can start as soon as I try to get emails.
All other methods of getting emails work fine, iphone, ipad, online etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
It is not Windows Live Mail that is the problem, it is the BT email system/servers that is the problem.
When you get the message that there is a problem with your password you should not change your password.
You should log onto your email via a web browser using either the BT logon
https://signin1.bt.com/login/emailloginform
or if that does not work use the Yahoo log on if your email account is with BTYahoo
Once you have done that you should then try using your email via WLM.
If that still deosn't work you should leave it for a day or two to see if it resolves itself.
Are you a BT Broadband customer or just a BT Premium email customer?
This problem has been going on for years and I don't think it will be resolved by BT any time soon.
It might be a pain and take some effort but it might be worth getting a non ISP email service such as gmail and migrate your email away from BT.
As well as having a more reliable email service you will have the bonus of not being tied to an ISP for email and save £5 per month.
