Is it worth me switching to BT with this problem

Go to solution

Evening all

Im currently with Sky, my contract has finished so im free to leave when i want, ever since Ive had the connection though Ive had coonstant problems with disconnects, multiple openreach visits, new router.

I spoke on the sky forums about this and someone said it could be the MPAN card or Msomething what im connected to as my speeds dont seem to adjust on reconnect after a disconnect, example below

Im only on ADSL but Im tempted by infinity I dont want to pay for a new service if its going to carry on though. Ive told sky what a forum member said but they dont listen.

If i do switch will I be moved to a new card at the exchange? If not would it help tohave my connection cut off then do a complete new connection instead of switching.

Any help would be appreciated as Im pulling my hair out now

Re: Is it worth me switching to BT with this problem

Go to solution
if your with sky and the exchange is LLU then changing from sky to bt with put you on bt kit in exchange and not sky. that's answer one. the other thing to think about is how far are you away from the mdf or exchange if you are a great distance this might be why adsl is dropping and as long as your close enough to the fibre dslam then should solve your problem

Re: Is it worth me switching to BT with this problem

If you are with sky then it is more than likely that you are on an LLU connection which means you are on SKY'S equipment in the exchange and not BTS. Moving will require changes in the exchange as you move from LLU to BT. If your problem is your line from the exchange to your home then problem will still be there after you move as it will be same line

Moving to fibre may well help as the copper cable is then reduced to distance from street cabinet to your home

Re: Is it worth me switching to BT with this problem

The street cabinet is about 300 yards from my house, its a new build house and i havent heard any of my neighbours complain of a bad connection, so you think a switch would be saitisfactory or get a complete new account, i mean like get my connection turned off and then a new one with BT
