I have been waiting 4 months to have my broadband connected and I received an e mail from BT on 31/3/2020 saying an engineer would be visiting the next day 01/04/2020 between 8am and 1pm but nobody came and I cant contact anybody about it.
you won't get an engineer if you need him to enter your home
this is a customer help customer forum and your post does not go to BT
So why would they send me an appointment on Tuesday saying someone would be coming the next day?
probably just an automatic notification
Thats not correct as there was guidance in the E mail regarding the virus, obviously I can't get any help on here, thanks anyway.

Ive waited 10+ years for any sort of fibre, I gave up on ADSL year ago and have been on mobile(s) ever since.
I ordered FTTP on 14th March (before it all went bonkers), I had been checking many times a day so I was as quick as I could have been. On the 16th the guy came and ran the cable from street to my front door underground.
Since Wednesday this week they have sent a Hub, emailed twice, even phoned yesterday evening, installation was due tomorrow 😭.
I cant believe I was so close. Shame really I could do everything bar the plug on the end of the fibre myself, and that could be done outside, I could install a ONT and I dont need the hub anyway.
(Im not complaining, Im getting it from the family all the time winding me up also, ive waited so long, whats another two or three months!)
