Re: Is this really the best I'm going to get?

Ok quick update,

Engineer visited stated that there were a large number of FEC errors and basically was an issue at the exchange, half hour or so later a call to state that some equipment had been changed at the exchange, noise margin to be changed and that I should be recieving faster broadband in the next 3-5 days. Rough estimate given as should expect 3mb due to long length there was clear 8mb at exchange (vast improvement on what it is now.)

Told to leave HH plugged in for 3-5 days and should expect some improvement so fingers crossed, mods due to contact tomorrow so hopefully should start seeing some changes. Speed still approx 1mb and ADSL stats as below after nearly 4hrs uninterrupted.

Fingers crossed after well over 2 years, may get usable broadband.

Mark

Re: Is this really the best I'm going to get?

noise margin still high but that gices scope for speed increase.  now need to wait as engineer suggested and see if you get speed improvement.  If not then contact the mods again or maybe they will have more information when they contact you

Re: Is this really the best I'm going to get?

Ok, Weekend passed and modem obviously reset itself somehow on Thursday or Friday giving me only two days stats, due a call back from the mods later today but not seen any increase in speed and broadband still appears to have a few minutes atva time where it's unresponsive although not really used it this weekend. Speed test when working gives around 1mb - adsl stats below. As the engineer said expect anywhere between 2-3mb for my line on a new estate with fairly decent wiring and I have mostly less that 1mb download any tips for when the mods make contact? Re: Is this really the best I'm going to get?

your noise margin is a little high at10.7 normally set at 6 reseting noise margin will increase your speed

Re: Is this really the best I'm going to get?

It's all very well saying that the OP should get their target SNR reset, but if there are large errors, DLM will increase the margin to reduce them. The erorrs need to be looked at before getting the target SNR reset.

Re: Is this really the best I'm going to get?

I was told that the noise would be reduced both by the mods and engineer. It has gone down from 12.9 to 10.4 but seems to remain there, I had the impression from the last contact with the mods that some lines are noisy but I will ask the question again. I was told by the engineer that there were huge fec events on the line and some adjustment had to be made at the exchange, if things were no better then the mods could request that he returned. Thanks for your help Mark

Re: Is this really the best I'm going to get?

fec's just show interleaving is working the noise margin default is 6 so they can reset to that with no problem
