Good luck with that, but it is highly unlikely to be added, not least because it shouldn’t be needed if broadcasters do what they should do when transmitting their programmes. I don’t think I’ve ever had this issue myself anyway and with catch-up services for most of the channels I watch it makes the need obsolete.

I agree with you @MJH62 that it's unlikely to be added, irrespective of how much campaigning there is. Since moving to BT I've been caught numerous times with recordings ending early, I do use Freesat however for the free channels so it only affects the subscription channels.

You're braver than me if you rely on Catch Up, I only use that when Series Link fails (which is something else broadcasters can't manage) only to find that the programme I want isn't uploaded for days or not at all.

Catch up is usually not available for coverage of live sport which just happens to be the genre of programme over-runs are mostly likely to happen and recording cut short.

It is not helping the viewer by denying them a well-proven solution to overcome the breakdown of technology.  On the contrary it is arrogant to think they know best despite repeatedly being shown to be wrong.

I was going to say that catch up isn’t available for sport. Often my hubby will want to watch one match and record the others that are on. The air can be blue when he finds that the end has been cut off and even more so if goals have been missed in that time.

often since we only have one tv, -strange I know in this day and age- I will be recording my fav programmes and then they miss the end makes me rather fed up. We are both disabled and almost housebound so sometimes TV can be a lifeline if I’m unable to do any crafting. 

it’s just a shame that an otherwise decent service is let down like this in this day and age.

I always try to watch sport live because if the result is 'out there' then the enjoyment is lost for me. However, when I had Sky I would always record F1, as I do now with Moto GP on BT. Sport is likely to overrun so I think some problems can be expected with recordings. it's debatable whether or not that is acceptable (from memory Sky were good at adjusting overruns on F1).

Scheduled (as in pure playback) broadcasting is another matter entirely. There is no excuse whatsoever why a programme on a channel such as Alibi (a common culprit) should have it's recording either be cut short at the beginning and/or the end. 

What I find annoying is, as @gomezz has said, it's the arrogance that padding isn't required because there's AR. It cannot be difficult to tell a machine that if a programme is scheduled between 9pm and 10pm for example, then record that period. For the broadcaster, if that's what they've advertised then that is what they must adhere  to, to the second. If they don't, then they should be sanctioned by Ofcom. I'm talking about 'normal' programming here, not news or sport.
