JPEGS in mail converted to winmail.dat when received

Problem just started - if I send a JPEG from my PC Outlook (linked to my BT account) to my BT email it becomes a WINMAIL.DAT file when received in my BT inbox!

Interestingly, I use outlook and when that same file is uploaded back to my PC in outlook the file is a JPEG again.

If I send the same email and JPEG from Outlook (BT account)  to a GMAIL account file stays as a JPEG.

I often send JPEGs from my PC via Outlook to my BT account to open on my iphone to use them in other applications - I cannot do that anymore as the files are received as WINMAIL.DAT that I cannot use.

This has only happened recently - how can I send JPEGS so they stay as JPEGS when received by BT??

Thanks

Re: JPEGS in mail converted to winmail.dat when received

Are you referring to the email client called Outlook or the Microsoft webmail email service known as Outlook.com ?

It is Microsoft Outlook, part of the Microsoft Office package

Re: JPEGS in mail converted to winmail.dat when received

I think Outlook sends email in Rich text Format - RTF.

In Outlook change this plain text and/or html.
