Just had FTTP 900 installed, cant get full speeds on Asus AC87U router

Go to solution

I just had an engineer get my setup with BT FTTP 900, using the standard BT SmartHub supplied I can achieve 900mbps+ download but only 50Mbps upload, according to the engineer the installed the connection, the router cant handle faster than 50Mbps (not sure how correct that is).

My main issue is I am trying to use my own router (which I've previously been using with my old FTTC provider), which is an Asus AC87U router. When plugging this directly to the ONT (via WAN port) I can get a connection. When I do a speed test however the results are the opposite. I can get 100-110Mbps UPLOAD, but download I seem to only be able to achieve 180-200Mbps.

Has anyone got any experience with this router or a similar one? Looking at reviews online the maximum throughput should be somewhere near 900Mbps so I'm not sure why it appears to be capped at 200Mbps (Down).  I have included a screenshot of my WAN settings below:

I have also turned off all traffic monitor and threat detection features on my Router to ensure that isn't bottlenecking the speed.

Any support would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to get the full speeds after resetting my Asus router to factory settings.
