I am a new customer to BT, I signed up online, I left my previous telephone and Internet provider as I was fed up with their poor service upon ordering from BT I was assured through the order and afterwards that I could keep my existing telephone number which I've had for many years this was one of the conditions I made when ordering!
I found upon receiving the paperwork from BT and order confirmation that I had been allocated a new tel number I contacted BT and they assured me this was purely a generic number to fulfil the order and that the old number could be put back in place I find that the old number is NOT yet been given back to me I have phoned and been told the help desk couldn't help me and to call back on Monday 12th needless to say I have written an email of complaint I will of course call back again on Monday and hope to have this most infuriating and possibly ( MIs-Sale ) resolved
If I don't I shall leave Bt and go elsewhere
Solved! Go to Solution.
You would normally be allocated a temporary number until your number becomes spare from your previous supplier, the number can then be ported across.
Thank you Devon lets hope you are correct
Ill be on the phone to them tomorrow
Hi again Devon_Dave does the number usually be ported across by BT ?
Did you tell BT what your original number was and did you request to keep it?
the following i have cut and pasted from my original post:
upon ordering from BT I was assured through the order and afterwards that I could keep my existing telephone number which I've had for many years this was one of the conditions I made when ordering!
Hi all I am delighted to report that I called the BT help general number 150 this morning and spoke to a lovely lady who was a fantastic help not only did she solve the porting of my old tel number but sorted out me getting signed up for free BT Sports
I fully understood her and she understood me -- so 100% to her and BT for employing such a helpful lady
I now look forward to many happy years with BT
