Landline constantly ringing.

Phone (cordless) rang contant ring no pause, picked it up but continued to ring even tho its set to answer on pickup.

Pressed the green answer button and met with a buzzing noise.

Replaced handset to its cradle but it keeps on ringing, only way to stop it is to unplug it.

As luck would have it i binned our wired handset to try it in the test socket.

I will get a neighbour to try our phone to see if its a handset problem or line problem.

BT fibre still works fine throughout all this so no clue what may be up.

Currently unplugged cant make or recieve calls.

Re: Landline constantly ringing.

Sounds like an fault on the line card in the exchange, a sticky relay. Try another phone first, before reporting it as a continuous ring.

Its always useful to have a corded phone in the event of a power cut.

Re: Landline constantly ringing.

Ye i just binned the corded handset a few months back.
I did a line test anyway and it recorded a fault outside of the property so looks like an exchange fault.

Re: Landline constantly ringing.

Do you have extension sockets, if you get a contact between the bell and battery leg that can cause a continuous ring.
