Landline number hijack

Missed 2 calls from 01736 prefixed number to my mobile, one on 30 December, one on New Year's Day. Called the number back because I don't know anyone in Penzance - was it someone on a holiday down there? Nice geniune person answered but hadn't made the calls. Suggested they check their phone bills. Didn't think the Cold callers could hijack your phone number

Anyone else had this happen ?

Is this a new scam from cold callers or PPI jockeys ?

Re: Landline number hijack

CLID can be 'faked' fairly easily with a little bit of technology. It doesn't mean that the call is really being made from that particular number just that's the one being 'sent'.

If it continues, report as a malicious call; it is possible to get the 'real' service ID from your incoming records.
