Can I swap out my existing Homehub type A for a new BT Smart hub and WiFi disc? I don't have fibre. Would I have to upgrade to a different package? At the moment I am on braodband unlimited.
Solved! Go to Solution.
at the moment I would stick with what you have if working the smart hub is more for fibre connections
if it's not broke don't fix it
Thanks for quick reply, I'd like to improve my wifi range to include my shed, and also use the DECT facility to get better coverage for my cordless phones. Is it absolutely neccesary to have fibre? Openreach have no plans to bring fibre to my area yet (been like this for last 5 years).
The DECT facility only works if you have the BT Digital Voice service, and is only compatible with the new BT digital phones.
I have the BT3500 quad phones, not sure about digital.

They will not use the DECT base unit in the home hub, only their own base unit, so you will not see any improvement in the range.
Thanks that plan is out the window then, but could I still use the Newest Smart Hub and a WiFi disc? As I said I've only got copper not fibre.

Yes, there is no reason why not, provided you have a good ADSL connection speed.
