Line Speed Dropping Again - IP Profile Reduced Once More

I have to admit the Mods on here are very helpful, and since Chris P had my IP Profile reset I have been happily working with speeds in  excess of 3.5+ Mbps, which where I am is not far off the 4 Mbps which I understand is all that my line will allow.

 

However ...... as my daughter was musing on the fact that things seemed to be taking a little longer once again I just did a speed test, and also checked my Hub stats. Here in brief is what I found:

 

Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.34 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.8 Mbps-2 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 1.75 Mbps

Connection time:    1 days, 06:51:37


So ... I have not apparently had a dropped connection for 30 hours or so, and still my IP Profile has fallen by about 2 Mbps, and the download speed accordingly.

 

Chris P did say come back if I needed further help, so here I am, although I didn't expect it to be so soon.

 

Is it possible that Chris or one of the other Mods could find out what may have happened to cause the very quick, and unexpected drop in my speed/IP Profile once again?

You now need to maintain a stable connection for the next 3/5 days to see if the IP profile rises automatically if not then the mods can become involved but they must be able to see a 3 days + stable connection first

I suspect you have had one or more hub disconnections which may have caused the noise margin to increase reducing the connection speed and therefore as in my earlier post reduce your IP,profile you need to post your full ADSL stats so. It can be seen what has happened

I take your point having been down this road before, but I have not physically disconnected HH4 and as the hub reported a stable connection for 30+ hours at the time I reported the issue again last night I didn't think that was the reason, but, I guess I may be wrong!

 

I am happy to supply all the stats necessary, but looking in the Events Log, when you say 'full stats' do you literally mean all, as there are several categories listed in the drop-down: All, System, Wan, USB etc... etc...

 

I make the point because the last date in the category WAN (which I have reported before) is the 5th December, today is of course the 7th. For interests sake here is the latest page (there are obviously more) from the All category:

Hi yes the stats shown in the wan drop down connection speed and noise margin and if you also go to the broadband tab you can locate the connection timed

I did a reset as you suggested and the speed & IP Profile do seem to be on the way back. Having just done a speedtest, here are the results:

 

 Download speed achieved during the test was - 3.14 Mbps
 For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
 IP Profile for your line is - 3.22 Mbps

 

I guess that if there are no further unexpected connection losses that the speed/IP Profile should still show a further, albeit, marginal improvement, to get back to what it was the other day.

Without being able to see your current connection speed it is hard to say how much if any more your IP Profile may increase i suspect they are already fairly close to its correct level

Looks like John has this well in hand but just thought I would mention that if you need to get back to the mods just reply to the last email ChrisP sent and we can have another look if needs be.

 

Of course posting here would be first point of call as your IP profile is on the way up again however the mods are always happy to help out when needs be.
