Dredging up an old thread here as the line is slow and we had the disconnects again yesterday.

I bought a cheap wired phone as suggested to test the line. I phone 17070 and did the quiet line test - I could hear a quiet hissing noise, maybe 1/4th the the volume of the voice. I don't know how quiet it's meant to be, is it meant to be dead silent or?

quiet line test from test socket with corded phone should be silent - no noise  as you can hear hiss report phone fault to 151
