Re: Line speed and attenuation

@pippincp Yes thanks

i was just wanting to see what connection speed estimated compared to the line which has had severe problems and now just been fixed. Assuming was broadband engineer pity he did not reset the DLM before leaving

Re: Line speed and attenuation

Would you guys say that the original post picture was in an acceptable range for noise?

Re: Line speed and attenuation

No I was comparing attainable with the estimate. If your noise margin gets back to normal 6db then speed should move nearer your attainable speed. If the fix was by a broadband engineer I am surprised that did not reset DLM. If phone engineer then he could not arrange DLM reset

What you posted means nothing without context. That's why you are being requested for further info.

Re: Line speed and attenuation

Just had another drop connection, I've done the line test and I can hear a hi pitch noise, not in your face loud, but its there.

Re: Line speed and attenuation

I ran the test via the test socket, that would explain the drop out in connection. The noise was present. Faint, but there. The engineer that came last week (broadband engineer) said that the line from the pole to the master was too close to the incoming power line to the house. He was going to request that was moved away as this could be the issue with interference, needless to say the engineer today (I didnt see him as I was in work) has not moved the line.

Re: Line speed and attenuation

I shouldn't complain really, at least I have a connection I can use and is faster than 500Kbps down and up......

Re: Line speed and attenuation

Your electricity supply is via overhead? Not mocking as there are many places that are the same.

Re: Line speed and attenuation

Yeah. I live in rural Cheshire. Overhead phone, electricity. No mains drainage, no gas supply and very iffy mobile phone signal. But hey, I get to wake up each morning and look out onto fields.

Who am I kidding, I need to move!
