Log-in problems after move from Yahoo to new email platform

Go to solution

Our email has been moved from Yahoo to the new BT platform. Access via the website is fine. However trying to access email via mobile phone (Samsung S7) or tablet (Samsung or Amazon Fire HDX) AFTER changing the settings as advised, results in the following message

The username or password is incorrect [they are not because they are the same ones used to access the web-based mailbox] or POP3/IMAP access isn't turned on for this account. Check your email account settings on the web, then try again

Help please. Which settings. How do I find them? This oldie needs step-by-step guidance. BT live chat is closed and the phones are only taking urgent calls. This is not urgent but is very annoying and inconvenient. Thank you.

The setting that are required for you mobile devices are as per these links

https://www.bt.com/help/email/manage-email-account/manual-settings/what-are-the-settings-for-outgoin...

Updating your BT email settings | BT Help

If after changing the settings your account does not work I would suggest turning your phone off for a few hours to stop them trying to access your email account. This should give the servers time to synchronise with the new settings.

When you do turn them on make sure you do it one device at a time and check to see if it is working before moving onto the next device.

I've finally sorted it.

Don't know how.

Instead of the email password I used the BTID password and everything worked, even in the Amazon Fire!
