Looking to move in to a flat, property shows as 900mb+ but flat number doesn't exist

Go to solution

Hey all,

I am looking to move in to a flat, I have the address and when I put this address in to BT's site I am given a list which doesn't include my flat number.

If i select Flat 7 - 8 *Address* (mine is Flat 5) then it tells me i can only get 8-16mb down via copper.

If i select 8 *Address* without selecting any of the Flat options it says i can get 900mb+ via FTTP.

On the BT Wholesale I get the following for the address (not selecting a Flat)

and if i select my flat which strangely although not on the BT website is on the wholesale website i get the following

Your address has been successfully matched; however we cannot determine ADSL availability at this address. Please try the Telephone Number or Postcode Checker.

How do I proceed here as 8-16mb when the building can get 900+ is surely wrong?

I haven't yet committed to renting the property for this reason as i need a decent internet connection for working from home

@Fma965

Call the FTTP team on 0800 587 4787, they should be able to help you place your order for FTTP with BT Retail.

Thanks, however can they advise on the speed without commitment? I wouldn't want to commit to the renting of this flat if they are unable to provide more than 8-16mb (guaranteed 2mb) as this would not allow me to do my IT work from home.

They should be able to tell yo whether FTTP is available. It would depend on whether there are any spare connections from the splitter.

Have you looked inside the flat to see if there is already an Openreach optical modem installed?

If you're contemplating renting the flat, be sure to check with the landlord / managing agent for permission that additional cabling and possible drilling may be required, especially within the common areas.

Well this is no longer relevant as between the short amount of time this post has been up i have just been informed that the landlord has decided to lend it to a friend so the property is not for rent any more. thanks for the help though.
