Lost landline number

I had a BT landline number for the past 35 years, I then moved to Sky ported my number to them. I then switched Virgin Media and asked to port my number to them. They failed to do so on the 31/08/21 and after several weeks of being told that they were going to do it and failed. I reverted back to Sky on the 12/09/21, but I've been isued with a new landline number, but I would like my old number back. I've been told that Sky use BT as the provider for the landline. Can anyone help?

there are many similar post to yours.  the only way you can now get your number back is to become a BT customer with a phone account and then you may be able to request your number back but there are no guarantees
