Making a personal web site

Hello!  Smiley Happy

Long, long, ago I subscribed to Freeserve!!! At that time, I was provided with space on the web to have my own web page to show pictures and stories. Much has changed on the Internet since then!

I've been wondering if BT do a similar thing, helping folk create a personal web page or pages, but I've searched around BT's web site without success. If something along these lines does exist, I'd be grateful to be pointed in the right direction.

My thanks in advance for any help forthcoming!

Have a great day!

D.

Re: Making a personal web site

Yes, you do have 50Mb of web space.

Here is a link to Andy_Ns website telling you how. http://www.andyweb.co.uk/shortcuts/webpage.htm

If you need more help, Andy_N is on this forum and I am sure he will help you Smiley Wink

Re: Making a personal web site

It's always worth reading AN's stuff but if you want a one-line, quick start guide:

1. Download Filezilla; 2. Enter Host: ftp.btinternet.com, User ID*, Port: 21; 3. Click Quickconnect; 4. Upload files.

* User ID is your primary BT email address before the @, and the associated password.

Hi. Welcome to the forums.

As mentioned, have a look at my shortcuts (link below) option 10 for webspace stuff. It's only a pretty basic offering.

If you wish to store pictures, then all BTinternet users can have free Pro Flickr accounts - giving pretty much unlimted space and filesize options, all with varying degress of privacy.

Re: Making a personal web site

I can connect OK so it's not a server issue. I'm using Filezilla with the details shown in message 3. Might be worth trying that as it's free!

Hi. Welcome to the forums

I've replied to your email, effectively suggesting it is possibly a firewall or other security package issue. It is often an IP address problem, but yours was not one in the dodgy range. However - I suggest a router reset or power cycle to get a new IP address and see if that helps.
