Many Android Apps not connecting over BT Broadband

Hi,

Since getting full fibre broadband I have noticed that some apps on android phones (eg, Amazon shopping, amazon music, youtube, Strava) either struggle to connect over the wifi, or won't connect at all. All other devices in the house (laptops & PS4) seem to work fine with no issues. But these apps on my Samsung S20 and my wife's S9, work fine over 4G, but not on the wifi.

Some of them connect ok when using a vpn (strava). Youtube won't connect initially, but if I turn off wifi and begin to load a video over 4G, it seemd fine to load the rest of the video over wifi once I turn it back on. This seems common with apps such as Amazon, which I also have to use 4G to get up and running, but will then run over wifi once the initial loading is complete.

I've seen this issue reported quite a lot online in various forums, so I don't think it's unique to BT. But I've never seen a satisfactorary solution. I'm hoping that you folks can help.

Re: Many Android Apps not connecting over BT Broadband

Web protect was already off. However I turned off smart setup and then restarted router and phones, and that does seem to have made some improvements thanks!

Youtube and Amazon seem to work better now. Strava and Reddit both just sit there showing the 'loading' wheel as before. However if I leave them like this in the background for about 5-10 minutes, they suddenly connect and work great with everything loading very quickly. Unfortunately when I close the apps and then reopen them again, I have to wait 5 mins again for them to start working. Amazon music seems to load the app quicker than before, but images and links take a long time to load, and trying to play songs gives a 'no internet connection' error.

Thanks for the help so far!
