over the last 4 days my connection has been excessivly slow even when taking fair usage restrictions into account if i understand correectly in this case my connection should be slowed to the equivilent of 1mb/s.
However it is much slower than even that with steam showing servers which i would normally have a latency of 50 to it is currently in the 350-800 region, ie as slow or slower than a dial up connection.
i have also prepared the following examples

ive tried phoning bt broadband hellp but they have been no help what so ever
what time does your speed drop? if you have been overdownloading they will cap you from 5-6pm till 12-1 am talking from my own experiance when i get capped my spped drops to 512 😞 but come midnight its back to normal.in the past it took bt 6 weeks to tell me i was getting capped which i didnt have a problem with as some days i was downloading 40gb :). if you are getting capped it will stay in place for a month as long as you dont hammer the downloads once the cap has been lifted,otherwise you will find you speed slow all the time during peak time.
its not just during peak hours, hence the problem, its constantly and consistantly slow, ive been capped before and its never had as detrimental an effect on my connection.
