If you are using the BT servers, there is no need (or ability) to add or amend an SPF record.
I presume you are authenticating with a @btinternet.com email address on the BT SMTP server.
@jingars Sure, but it's inbound email that is affected by this, is your inbound email being forwarded by 123-reg ?
mail to 'you@yourdomain.co.uk' 123-reg forwards to 'yourbt@btinternet.com' ?
I think the SPF entry on your domain means 123-regs mail server is allowed to send on your domains behalf.
Ok, I have just received a Message Delivery Failure message which the headers show was sent at
Date: 22 Apr 2021 09:05:16 +0000
which I believe is after the fix was put in place.
I have also added the following to DNS on reg123 for the domain in question
IN TXT "v=spf1 mx a ?all"
which may or may not be correct 😞
@jingars I've done some more digging. You can add
include:btinternet.com
to you SPF.
v=spf1 mx a ip4:94.136.40.163 a:mailex.mailcore.me include:btinternet.com -all
I've changed mine and will check over the next 24 hrs
Just set up the SPF record as advised above and sent a test message to myself at my 123.reg address. It arrived within 20 seconds. The similar test message I tried last night (before I added the SPF record) has still not arrived.
Maybe the problem is fixed? I'll report again if I get any more errors.
Thanks to the guys who provided the SPF ideas. Fingers crossed"!
@sbadger, thank you for your time on this - I have set my SPF to the same.
Sorry but your response is not a sufficient explanation. What is that changed on or around 7 April that has caused this problem?
I am also having this problem and it is getting to be a real problem.
My emails are diverted from my own domain address to my BT account. I have not noticed this problem with emails that are sent directly to my BT email address, only with diverted emails.
I have raised this with my domain provider and they have not yet responded.
