????? No more open on the desktop than a web browser. However, with a client you don't have a continuous open login on the server as you do with webmail.

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

Does anyone think BT is actually listening?? I can't believe they let this upgrade go ahead - probably find they all use Gmail!!

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

Regarding filters, that hasn't changed for me.  I have 71 (mostly ensuring junk goes to Trash) and they are there, except they are now called Rules not Filters.  Not sure why.  In the meantime none of the helpful advice so far has fixed my issue with looking at one e-mail and then clicking the right or left arrow to go to the next one in the list, without closing down and opening the next one in the inbox.  That used to work fine.  Even under the new update it worked until yesterday.  Now it doesn't.  Having signed a 24-month contract with BT in February I'm going to have to look at my options.  I can't be doing with all this for the next 20 months.

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

I am having the same problems - emails open in a new window which take ages and then you can't reply and have to go back to the BT screen. What a mess.  Please sort it out BT.

BT Mail is missing features/functions that Yahoo Mail offered

Just a comment and complaint more than a question! I’ve been using BT Yahoo Mail for years and was able to a) choose a font style for my signature and b) add a link/hyperlink to my auto reply (was called Vacation Response), whereas now that I’ve been migrated over from Yahoo to BT Mail-my auto reply message looks messy and unprofessional because I can’t hyperlink a word-it automatically includes the entire https:// URL and as per the signature, it’s no longer possible to choose my font style.

I’m not at all satisfied with the migration as this should have meant an improvement in function and features rather than a step backwards to basics.

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

Some of the problems and the "new" problems that have emerged in the last day or two were there when the new User Interface (UI) was introduced over a year ago and all the same complaints that are in this and other threads were voiced at that time. I'm sure if you do a search you will fined the threads that were posted when the UI was first introduced.

The BT email team tinkered about with the UI and they sorted out most of the main complaints about how it worked albeit they did not change much about the way it looked.

For some inexplicable reason it would appear the the "old" initial UI is now being used and as a result all the previous "fixes" would appear to have been undone and have caused a lot of the complaints and problems.

Having said all that, the migration from BTYahoo to the "new" BTMail and the UI that is being used with the "new" BTMail is without doubt turning into a complete and utter shambles and needs the BT email team to explain what is happening and start to resolve this shambles before it becomes the same mess as the last attempt in 2014 to move away from Yahoo.

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

I feel that email should be simple (and reasonably fast to access). But it seems that, in the move to BT Mail, BT have chosen to make it more complicated than it needs to be or should be. This seems to be an unfortunate habit of many web designers today. They seem to do things because they can rather than because they should. The KISS rule, which has served us so well over time, seems abandoned or no longer instilled. We have to have oodles of icons for no apparent reason, as though there has to be an assumption that people cannot read simple words and phrases like 'reply', 'mark as read' etc. Likewise a number of different ways to do exactly the same thing.  Are all those 'previews' etc., really necessary?

Personally, I do not think it advantageous to have lists published as single pages running extensive script. It reminds me of scrolls (or rolls). They were in use once, but then things moved over the the convenience of multiple leaves. I am not sure returning to scrolls is a great idea. None of my PCs & browsers like it. Chewing up resources they have the ability to slow them down, greatly, and cause them to hang. I find I now have the ability to view the trash going back in an endless stream over many years, much of which I had thought was automatically deleted long ago. Moving down the list takes a while to display, as does moving back up again. Is it not more sensible to allow a user to choose a page display length?

I'm also caused to wonder why this stuff is still hanging around.

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

I haven't been on these forums for a long time, but really must comment on this "Upgrade" to BT Mail...Absolutely disastrous and several steps in the wrong direction...Loads of my contacts gone, so I have to type full email addresses, emails open in stupid pop-up window...I could go on...btw, the "App" is even worse...a nightmare to send an email from...I am going to have to inform all my contacts that I'm switching to gmail...had enough of this rubbish...I'm sure an A Level student doing an IT assignment could have done a better job..
