Also, they lost one of my email folders in the "upgrade". Fortunately still there on the phone.
This new email system that BT has produced has now become unusable on my pc.
I have been with BT since the inception of email but I have never found the system to be so slow that every action I ask the pc to perform is a 1 minute wait.
This happens whether I am using the search box to find an email or switching from "Sent" folder to "Inbox".
My computer has fast internet connection and it is only since the changeover this has happened. I have used all the suggested methods to access the emails. When I tried using Outlook none of my Inbox folders showed up so I reverted to accessing via bt.com.
My IPad and Iphone work as usual but the PC has become to frustrating to use any more.
How is it possible the biggest telephonic company in the UK has let this situation occur for so long without fixing it.
Since my posts a few days ago, this morning it is taking even longer to open emails, move emails and delete emails. The dreaded "circle of doom" has literally sat for approx. 25 seconds before any action completed. I know 25 seconds in the big picture is nothing but when you have be used to things happening almost instantly it is extremely frustrating!
The other annoying thing is that spam comes into my inbox and I have to move it to spam, there does not appear to be a spam filter. The search does not work effectively. I put in Ye Olde Swan and yes , I did get Ye Olde Swan but also Saga, Wyvevale and countless others so could not do select all and delete
I've mentioned this elsewhere so apols. for the repetition but this seems to be the main thread where reporting of issues is being monitored.
In BTMail, since appx. beginning of June , if one downloads emails to a POP3 client (whilst simultaniously or subsequently viewing the account in Webmail) they are a) apparently slow to be removed from 'Inbox', b) no longer get moved to and appear in 'Trash'. That is to say, they simply vanish suggesting they are being permanently deleted.
Prior to this time/date they were being 'moved' to trash (as they did with BTYahoo).
This suggests systems upgrade took place around the end of May / beginning of June which has a 'bug' or design change. Given that, using webmail, deleting a mail from 'Inbox' will move it to 'Trash' it does not seem that this 'vanishing' following POP3 download is intentional. Regardless, it isn't desireable.

That is the one good thing they have implemented and it is how POP3 should work. They are not being 'deleted', they are being downloaded to the POP3 client.

I would hope it is intentional and yes, it is desirable. The whole point of POP3 is to download the mail and remove it from the server, it defeats the object of the excercise if the mail is simply moved to a different part of the server.
If you want to leave mail on the server, use IMAP
re spam comment - gill68 - message 403
It appears that BT did not copy across any previous spam addresses.
So one has to do it all again!
and, trying to send for the second time as I got the message -
'Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied.'
Presumably because I copied and pasted 'gill68' (it was pasted in blue and underlined) from her original message and it was interpreted as HTML!
REF: #139
Well, I've successfully removed all my "invalid" #-folders, using Thunderbird. So, my thanks to licquorice for the suggestion.
For info, see #42 in this thread:
Anyone else noticed an increase in the number of spam messages from people claiming to be BT to update account payment details?
These messages are not even being identified as spam, but coming into my Inbox.
I guess that, while BT are not responding to all our worries and concerns re security and lack of functionality with their new email, somewhere scammers are trying to take advantage of us not being able to easily identify who senders are.
If things continue as they are I can see that many of us will have our accounts compromised.
