You can import and export contacts (to a .csv or similar file) - doing this means that you should have a snap shot of your contacts from any system - if you want to edit these I would suggest an email client and not Web Mail to do that.
I created a 'Sent 2020' folder and moved all my partner's sent mail into that - I think it's only the dynamic folders which are at risk of full or partial deletion - like Sent or Inbox. Hopefully if you put them into a folder of your creation they will cut-over without a problem.
You can certainly, see above, move contacts from one system to another via the export: import process.
I believe the BT expert was promising that the problems of auto-fill would be addressed (i.e. they were at least acknowledged) - but I really wouldn't hold my breath on this one.
Edited to add - setting up a 'Sent 2020' folder (or name of your choice) is only relevant before your account has been switched over - it's not a fix if you've already lost messages having been switched over - although you could use it to stop having to change your password - an apparent 'fix' for it continuing to happen after the switch over.
Please, please, please - improvements needed and as soon as possible or I'll be adding my bt emails to my Gmail to view them. 😞
Please when moving an email to folder - make it hover or click on folder to move through the list. Even better, give us back the Yahoo functionality to be able to search for the folder we want - type the first few letters to select.
Give us back the, again, Yahoo functions:
Search for all emails from this sender/subject eyeglass
When emails are previewed on the right - fit the message to the view of give us a scroll bar along the bottom - I can't read the wide messages.
When showing "unread" emails - I don't want to see the oldest first (I'm sure I'm not the only one who purposely marks emails as unread so that I can come back to them later when I have more time to look at them. This doesn't mean I want to see them first. If viewing unread, give me the option to view ascending or descending order.
Advanced search - not very advanced - where's the (Yahoo/Gmail/any other mail but BT) cleverness to be able to choose what folder, sender, has attachment (inc type), .... - just look at Gmail and you'll get what I mean.
So many more niggles - please get someone on the case.
J007 - you need to get your mate, 'Q' on the case, I'm sure he can sort it for us 😂
@Jules68 : many thanks - will try these later today - re promised changes I agree - holding one's breath would be dangerous ! I assume that one could move one's Inbox into a 'static' folder as well ( It's huge - I'm guilty of not filing my incoming mail!)
Some advice like this would be useful for BT to provide BEFORE migration 'cos it seems that when it's done it's done!
P.S. Pausing the migration would be the sensible thing to do ; however ........
The mystery to me is that all the BT community responses are all different bu there are some similarities.
For example I have had no problem with attaching pdf's and sending and I always check they are below 25mb
It looks like BT have done things in tranches for different users perhaps and the result is differing problems by different users
My issue is about the address book , contacts duplicated and not able to select recipient for the emails as the contacts are buried out of sequence and I keep trying to sort the duplicates and errors and it keeps freezing on me and does not want to let me delete old contacts that have been imported
I have never had a problem with contacts in fact just an hour ago I send an email to my friend Paul.
I select compose, in the "to" box I start typing Paul and the various Pauls come up, I scroll down and select the one I want and it's fine.
Well it was.
Just now I do the same. I select compose and type Paul....but only one comes up. The others are missing.
I look in my contacts and all the Pauls are there.
This is one of the new features to keep you on your toes.....sometime it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Just be thankful that BT do not design lifts, aircraft, seat belts etc.......
