Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

It is interesting that we (the users) are told to read the entire thread, have BT read the entire thread? I think not, as there a loads of issues which are even mentioned in that poor response from BT.

Today's problem - just not opening specific emails. Great stuff BT!

Again, and to be fair, you're being told to by unpaid guardians of BT's integrity (solve enough problems - obviously excluding e-mail which is insoluble) and you could be one too.

BT itself is not being so cavalier with your time - and I suspect is now only responding when there is actually news (of fixes) to respond to. The fact that we hear so little from formal BT probably tells us a lot of what an intractable problem this is.

Most companies when they create an e-mail system don't do so with 5 million customers already there and booked in. When Gmail launched, Google was careful to limit users (you had to be invited by another user to 'join') until they had got a workable system.

BT didn't have that luxury once it had decided to build one of its own. Its slow migration is trying to mimic this - but of course the early gmail customers were willing early adopters, not having to jeopardise without agreement often many years of data and usage. I was one of those, but I had a then working email system (Yahoo) to fall back on. I didn't like gmail's structure as much as Yahoo's - so it was my back-up/ fall-back system - well until very recently!

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

@psims  You will see the box it says search In box  type the first part of any email in there and click the magnifying glass to the right of the Box , all  the emails regarding that sender will be listed

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

@psims regarding  folders   all  listed down left hand pane  just expand with top arrow  if not  showing .  Folder name order  Folders  with Upper  case first letter are first  then Lower case. Change all  to Upper case first letter if you want all A a  before Bb  rather than A B a b

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

@goldmankind Thanks.  I appreciate the advice.  Mine was just a vent as things have become more difficult/impossible/slower.

I had folder starting with _xxxx which was at the top but moved to the bottom so now it is renamed.

As for searching for certain emails I realise I can search for them this way but I have to know the email address whereas the 'old' way had some intelligence and did that for you.  Just made it easy when clearing out the inbox and pinpoint mails.

Whilst searching all folders this is where I get "The advanced search functionally is overloaded. Try again not using the 'body' search box" even if I have am just searching the past year.  I have been with BT since 97 so I have a few emails and the 'old' system could handle it.  I have approx 125 folders so pinpointing a folder is not what I am looking for

Monstrous new email upgrade

What is it with BT? Suddenly I have a supposedly wonderful new upgrade. It is HOPELESS, HOPELESS, HOPELESS.

It is slow, freezes, tells me I've moved something to another site, takes forever to load emails, loses email addresses, doesn't bring up recently used email addresses, stops me from moving email addressees - I could go on.

Doesn't anyone check this before letting it loose on the poor customer?

For goodness sake BT, GET A GRIP.

Re: Terrible new 'improved' email

@BobSincalir  you've got a new provider with Gmail haven't you? Unless of course you mean a new ISP which seems a bit drastic simply because you don't like the revamped email? If you do mean a new ISP then for goodness sake learn from this experience and don't use their own email service.

Re: BT Mail is missing features/functions that Yahoo Mail offered

Totally agree. The migration should mean an improvement. This is horrendous and they do not give a dam.
