Shhh - don't tell BT, there is an easy way of writing a new email AND at the same time look at one ( eg one that you are replying to ), and that is to do it off-line. Have a text document handy ( you can copy and paste one into the icons at the side of your screen ). Then you can cut and paste none/bits/all of a message onto it and carry on there with your reply, then at the last minute cut and paste what you have back into a reply in the BT system. Keep the text file handy - just overwrite it each time you use it. [ doesn't solve the address problems ]
Shhh - an easier way do it while online is if you are using an Preview Pane view you double click on the email in your email list which will open the email in a new window AND at the same time you can compose a new email. You can have as many windows open as you want. You will however need to close them individually when you are finished with them.
OK, so I'd unsubscribed from this thread as I really was just getting too depressed to deal with all the issues and see over and over again that so many of us were experiencing them - except of course for the usual few who keep saying 'It works for me!'. I'm happy for you, but it is of no help to others. I just work away at trying to sort things and transfer all my important data to another provider.
HOWEVER, this morning I receive an email from Dubai Police and Dubai Statistics Centre. Before anyone asks, it is genuine, I have been able to check that.
We left the country over four years ago, cleared all accounts and so any communication from them (or any other organisation in the UAE) had long since ceased, but it appears that this quagmire of an email system has not only resurrected all old contacts, but has somehow allowed them to re-activate our email address as a current contact. (I think BT were the company that originally advised Etisalat (then Emirtel) back in the 1970s and onwards from then.)
As requested in the email if I received it 'in error', I have forwarded it to the legitimate authorities in Dubai so as to once again have our email address removed from their records. Those who have lived there will know that this may now start a whole round of record checks to see that we left the country legally, with all debts paid, bank accounts closed, vehicles sold, educational transfer certificates received and employment and family visas cancelled, etc..
Please BT, enough is enough.
It may not be BT who has done this. I recently received, from Yahoo, an email (to my address once hosted by them) advising me of a change in Yahoo Security. They sort of 'revived' my email to do this (of course it existed, by then, on BT's servers). Actually, they had me as a former customer and did not cease my account with them even after BT had moved my e-mail persona entirely in house.
So it may have been a Yahoo action, not a BT one, which triggered your unexpected e-mail. In which case I don't think BT can be held to blame. But it is strange. I cannot see the mechanism by which BT could (by resurrecting, if it did, an old email address for a Dubai office) alert that office to anything. Or indeed Yahoo.
It would make more sense that it was the office in Dubai who had their e-mail contacts 'restored' - possibly from an old back-up after a failure. And were checking to which if any were still 'live'.

Crikey, what you guys been up to?? LOL The last 7 email notifications to this thread have all lead me to, "access denied" which I was told means that the post has been deleted by a mod. That must have been one heck of a flaming row 😂

On my regular Tour de France highlights of the day show, there was an advert I hadn't seen before - for BT email
It needs reporting to the Advertising Standards Agency if it used the word "improved" or any other claiming it is somehow a good product...

May I recommend, 'AdBlock Plus', excellent free little browser addon that stops all those pesky adverts...
EDIT, forgive me, on re reading your post, I think it may be a TV show, not a web site with an ad LOL (Though wouldn't it be great to have a ad blocker for your TV!)
Yes, they probably went too far off topic. A pity that the Mod's aren't the team fixing this mess, given their efficiency at policing this forum & the hours that they spend watching it, they would have had things fixed months ago. I find it interesting that we still have not had a response from BT Management here. I don't mean the postings about their plans for improving/correcting faults, I mean someone prepared to admit that they signed off on this 'upgrade', trying to cut corners to boost his/ her bonus. Or I have the job of the person that signed off ....

I'm not going to look at these - I never had to be taught how to use the old system, so I'm not going to waste my time now reading about what should be as simple as riding a bike.
I’ve got the bt mail app on my iPhone and every time I get a notification I get 3 times! I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it but I’m still having the issue.
Anyone else having this ?
