Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

I know I will got shot down, but I'm afraid I really do have to state yet again that I cannot for the life of me understand why 'power users' of email would even consider using webmail rather than MSOutlook or even Thunderbird. Webmail is fine for the casual user but for any sort of intense mail activity a fully featured client is the only way to go.

As for the mail app, there is absolutely no need to use it, there are a multitude of good mail apps out there.

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

At the risk of getting 'shot down' by the  'power users' on this forum and, whatever the logic behind using e-mail clients, and given :

- the level  of negative feedback on this and other related threads

- the detail of of poor functioning of the webmail interface

- the appalling lack of communication ( except for SeanD ) from BT

, surely even the most loyal BT user would consider the new webmail offering from BT as not being fit for purpose.  I certaimly would have been ashamed to put my name to this if I had been part of the development team. I can't understand how the capability ( or lack of ) got through testing - maybe they didn't test in a 'real world' environment - were customers involved in beta testing?

I suspect the rush to get people migrated onto a less than functional system was driven by commercial rather than technical interests - maybe a critical contractual milestone?

Come on BT - you do better - and please talk to us directly!

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

I have decided to migrate from my  Bt Mail. It is going to be a pain for me but I can't rely on a company that can let this sub standard update happen. They will not last long I am sure.

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

I too am looking to migrate away. The app is awful. Bt yahoo for me was far superior on all my apple devices.

i get e mail notifications pushed through to all devices quickly, but it takes an age to load. And it does not update when I open the app, I have  to update, which again, takes an age.

poor show BT...

Licquorice, I've been trying your suggestion, but how do I export my contacts as a csv file.
Thank you.

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

I have now left BT Mail and am now using Outlook which is part of my 365 Office package.

The person in charge of this monstrous new BT Mail should be sacked, unless of course it was Year 3, which I think it probably was.

So perhaps just mark their annual report, try harder next time.

Re: Monstrous new BT email upgrade

Am I right in thinking that Outlook on its own won't solve the BT problems.  As a client all Outlook will do is better manage the garbage being produced by the BT server. Lost e mails will still be lost.  Slow searching will still be slow.  You need to use something like Virgin or google mail as well as Outlook?

BT mail will accept either csv or Vcard format for contacts. I don't use Apple products but a quick Google reveals the default format for exporting iCloud contacts is Vcard.
