Why is this happening BT?
Good morning. I seem to recall but stand to be corrected that this initial move stalled after a while for a reason I have never discovered. Some people saw the name Yahoo disappear from their email system I understand.
What I don't understand is that I had a user interface that clearly did not state Yahoo and fall to understand what was wrong with that system. Perhaps it was Yahoo under the bonnet.
Surely if you are developing an email system you look at others see how they work and follow the same path.
This is like designing a car and using a square steering while everyone else has a round one and thinking all others have got it wrong.....Allegro......shows my age.

It's in good company - the 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante also ventured into the square steering wheel. My friends dad had one of those Allegros, at the time, it was the coolest thing I'd even seen! 😂
Can anyone here please help me, and get rid of this frustration I am suffering? The new BT email will not let me reply to any emails I get. I get an error message "Invalid mail address, must have a domain part Err code: 501" and means that I have to type out those people's email addresses again. I have made an address book, and input all these people as contacts, but it won't let me enter their details as they look on incoming mails. This means that I have to delete all the emails in my reply and insert BT's version. That is so frustrating and time consuming. I am a former BT Projects Manager and I cannot understand how we/they could have gotten away with foisting this on customers in this way. My customers (back then) would have foreclosed their accounts if I had done this to them.
Anyway, getting back to my 'reply to' and 'reply all' issues, can anyone recommend a simple solution for me please?

Good morning in this dystopian world, ridden with Covid-19 and a "new" and "improved" BT email system (ever wonder why I keep referring to Orwell?).
I remember well the panic that email's were being hacked and Yahoo getting the blame. However, as you say, the whole thing apparently went away. I assume that BT and Yahoo disconnected for financial reasons in the end, as Yahoo seem to have done a lot about security after that initial reports. What goes on behind the scenes we are not privy too and I guess even the financial reporters couldn't get a story on why the separation finally occurred.
However, that still leaves us where we are now. BT dragging its feet pulling away from Yahoo. A far inferior email system initially - but it may be slowly improving. A very large number of people dissatisfied with BT email - can't understand that part - doesn't make business sense - but that's what is happening. A community forum where we may make some negative comments but generally try to help out. Things can only get better - can't they?
Re: the Austin Allegro - I was a student when that came out and was working on a forecourt with a sales dept. next door. An elderly couple bought the first Allegro from the showroom and as they proudly drove out onto the main road, two of the hub caps dropped off. Oh, those were the days. Square wheels and shocking colours.
When there was the hacking problem BT moved, eventually, customer data onto servers controlled by them, not Yahoo. It was then the service was rebranded to BT Yahoo from Yahoo Mail. But the front end continued as Yahoo.
The current move migrates to a BT front end, and that's what's the disaster.
The first move was about security and data integrity, nominally. The second about end to end control. And probably a financial benefit not paying Yahoo for the front end.
Are you using webmail? Error 501 is an HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) error. It may have something to do with the fact that webmail is not allowing HTTP - only RTF (rich text format) or plain text. That doesn't solve your problem yet but even this forum set up gets queasy about posting HTTP. Looks like your address book only has the first part of the address and not the domain - such as @btinternet.com
