If you want to see the originating email address you can set your page to have a preview pane by selecting one in the "change view" drop down box. This will show you the originating email address in the preview pane without opening the email.
Or if you want you can use the "No preview" view, in your email list you tick the box on the left hand side of your chosen email you them go to the "More" button in the menu bar and select "view source". This will give you more information than you no doubt want but it does show the full information about the email and its journey to your inbox.
Thank you for your advice it's much appreciated, I'll let you know how that goes
That doesn't appear to work as you described, selecting preview (at the bottom) does show the address from which the email has been sent but it also downloads the whole email as well which I don't wish to do; that was the benefit of the old system where you could check the authenticity without opening it then delete if required. No answer to where the tabs have gone.
The preview does not download/open the email. That is the point of a "preview".

The tabs haven't gone anywhere, there are no tabs in the BTMail system.
There were tabs on the old system so that you could have several emails open at any one time and move between them, this appears to be no longer possible. Regarding the preview, you say it doesn't download the email but a little message comes up "loading email" and all the text, graphics and links are there to see and the links work. From that it would appear that preview is the same as opening the email.
As has been mentioned, there are no tabs so obviously you can not use tabs to have more than one email open.
Unfortunately I can not find any documentation regarding the Preview Pane in BTMail but every email system that uses a preview pane uses it because it does not open the email. However it would not surprise me if BT were an exception. The email has to be accessed so that you can read it in the preview pane.
As I said I can not find anything specifically about BTMail but this link is for gmail's preview pane. Note the first paragraph.

If you are not happy using the preview pane, don't use it.
You can use the other method to see the senders email address. It might not be what the "old" system did but you are no longer on the "old" system so you need to decide to use what this system offers or move to another email provider or use an email client.
A bit confused here - I received all the new BT mail stuff when I logged on today - yes it is slow - but when the top left hand corner still says BT Yahoo mail - even though I logged in via the bt.com web site - have we been migrated or not?
If it shows BTYahoo it means you have not been migrated yet.
The BT.com logon can be used for both BTYahoo and BTMail.
Try clearing your browsers history and cookies then try logging on using this link
Thanks - so BT tells me I have a new e-mail system but I really don't yet - par for the course ! Presumably it will be coming soon? Yet I did earlier today experience a strange version of e-mail with pop-up windows when opening mail - now back to the old system - has there been a rollback?
Still nervous about changing passwords for BTID and e-mail because of all the hassle I had last year with multiple devices - I assume that hasn't been fixed?
Frustrated or what?
Hi Yes I agree this new email is rubbish I search for a batch of email under an heading, it lists them all I then open one it displays that.......but then you cant go back to the list to look at another mail it goes back to inbox and you have to search the list again.
Im finding it much easier to just open the mail on the phone in Android mail.
