I recently swapped over my parents broadband connection from O2 to BT. I did speed tests on the line before the transfer and consistently hit 9Mb over several days. Now the new Home Hub 3 has been in use, we are only seeing speeds of 5Mb at best. Also, the iMac consistently drops the wifi connection, which never happened with the O2 Wireless Box. We can only nail this down to the change in the router hardware. The whole process of transferring over was painless and I was impressed with how this was handled. We have been disappointed with the speed and connection issues since, especially considering the same line is being used. I think part of the problem has been with the Smart Wireless that seems to be selecting already congested frequencies and not doing its job sufficiently, I have manually changed this after using some other software to monitor surrounding SSIDs. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced nothing like this after swapping provider or if people have seen problems with OSX Lion and the HH3? Thanks in advance
O2 would be providing an LLU service up to 20mb but need to see if 21CN enabled
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) bt speedtester and post the results .
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
