Moving flat and cancelling

On July the 2nd Im moving out of my current flat to another in the same town. When I moved in in septemeber I started a new BT account as there was no internet in the flat, so I have been paying bills since then. I have an 18 month contract (which was stupid of me, I know) and am moving to a flat in july that has BT internet already, but it is included in my rent (ie, i wont be billed for it myself). Its a long shot, but will there be any way of me getting around paying the cancellation fee to BT when I move? Im on BT Total Broadban Option 3 with Unlimited Weekend and Evening Calls

Thanks

Ste

BT might give you a discount off the cancellation fee as technically you will still be a customer, then again BT might put the kybosh on your Landlord for transferring broadband to someone who has not signed up IYSWIM. This has the potential to go wrong for everyone involved IMO.

Re: Moving flat and cancelling

Hi Stuart,

We now have a bill for £269 for a service that BT failed to commit to, we moved house and unknown to us a new contract was set up. The engineer who set us up was unable to get us more than 5 channels when we were paying over £90 with infinity vision and the phone. After failed phone calls and on hold endless lies, enough was enough and we decided cut our losses and move to a service who gave what it said on the tin.

Thank you.
