Multiple dropped connection every evening (CWMP: session closed due to error: No response)

Hi,

 

Been having issues with my connection dropping out apx every 45 mins from 16:00 to 22:00 every eveing for the last two weeks.

 

I tried an asus vdsl router and that didnt work

 

This is really annoying as it interupts streaming and online games etc

 

HH5 is back in now.

 

Line test for noise seems ok

 

Getting perfect speeds even in the evening

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated

CWMP (CPE WAN Management Protocol) is a protocol used by service providers to manage the router i.e., the Home Hub in this case. These messages indicate the Hub was trying to connect to the ACS (Auto Configuration Server) and could not for some reason. It does not indicate the broadband disconnecting.

 

Do you see anything in the log for PPP or WAN events?

Interesting that the PPP messages are 'PPP LCP Send Termination Request' which would appear as if it's the hub that's requesting the connection be terminated. It may do this if it doesn't receive the 'heart beat' packet that PPP uses, but I thought there was normally a 'timeout' message if that was the case.

 

If this has been happening in the evening over the last few weeks could it be that there are Christmas tree lights turned on during this time? The power supplies that come with tree lights are possibly not the best and very likely emit electromagnetic interference that could affect your broadband.

The 'PPP LCP Send Termination Request'  has been a long standing problem with Home Hubs that I don't believe has ever been fully explained or resolved.

@EnkayeWhat model Asus are you trying to use? If it is a VDSL modem/router it should work if configured correctly.

Hi pippincp

 

It was an ASUS DSL-AC68U AC1900 Dual-Band Wireless VDSL/ADSL 2+ Gigabit Modem Router

(latest firmware)

 

I had a terrible time setting it up, wouldnt recognise it was connected to the phone jack. had to create profile then retry the wizard.

 

When I got it working it kept giving warnings on the info screen saying the connection is unstable and it would auto adjust.

Google helped with turing bitswap off then those warnings went.

 

In the evening it went all funny, no discon errors in the logs but no connection....

 

I did some reading up on that modem and seems others have had problems with also.

I may try another router or just a modem but am unsure what to try?
