My email of 27th January 2021 said "We have stopped your BT Sport". It didn't stop the direct debit!

Hi,

I discovered this evening BT Sport has been debiting £25.00 per month from my bank account since 27th January 2021.

I had intended to subscribe to BT Sport in January for one month because of the 'ten days of football' event.

However, there was a glitch with my order and I started receiving several emails welcoming me to BT Sport.

I feared I was going to have multiple debits. Their records will show just how many emails they generated, and the issues I raised.

On 28th January, I was advised my 'account' had been suspended, but I would need to provide my bank details in order for a refund to be made. I was also informed it would take 5 days to go into my account.

On 29th January, I was able to speak to someone who could resolve the issue. In fact this person was able to make a refund into my bank account immediately.

As I feared, providing my bank details in order to obtain a refund, has resulted in £25.00 monthly debits from my bank account.

If I was a BT Sport subscriber, is it normal practice not receive ANY emails from BT Sport since January, even if only to advise me of the date when they were taking payment?

My e-mail account still has the email from BT Sport dated 27 January 2021 with the headline stating unequivocally -"We have stopped your BT Sport"

I have been told by an advisor to call back tomorrow they were closed today due to a bank holiday.

I have since logged on and cancelled the subscription.

I have found out my BT Sport 'direct debit' is something called a recurring payment, a Continuous Payment Authority, and I am now wonder if this will make it difficult for me to get my money back from BT?

I will contact my bank tomorrow and find if they will pay me back as I contacted them in January when I tried to obtain a refund.
