My infinity speed is worse than a dial up modem

I am getting a download speed of 18.6Kb (yes kilobytes) on a newly upgrade infinity line

Acording to my order cofnrimation I am meant to get download speed of 64MB/S. I am not even getting 1/100 of that. I  Have nothing runnning apart from software I am downloading. There are no other users on this network. Only laptop is connection by ethernet cable to the hub. Wifi on the laptop is disabled.

Uisng http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ to test I get an error message below "

If there is no fibre coming into my proerty that means I have not been upgraded to infinity!. Weird

Re: My infinity speed is worse than a dial up modem

Hi,

You will probably be on FTTC which is Fibre to the Cabinet and not FTTP (which is Fibre to the Premises)

Please try http://speedtester.bt.com again

and click on the button that looks like:

Then post the results with the IP Profile.

Also please do the speed test with a wired Ethernet connection from the homehub/router to your computer as wireless (wifi) connections can pick up interference.

Cheers

I very much doubt that you are getting 64MB/S anyway as you don't get even half that on FTTP I think you mean 64Mbps
