*sigh*   This is just a repeat of your earlier comment to which I’ve already replied.

adsl checker confirms cabinet. It is the nearest cabinet. The cabinet is 1km in a straight line or approx 1.5km via overhead cable following the road. Connection speed confirmed by adslchecker, home hub stats, online speed test and anecdotal observation of netflix download.

I welcome constructive comments, but there’s really no point in just reposting the same comments over and over, it just buries the genuinely useful contributions that other people have been kind enough to make.

The original post has an accepted solution - the longer line has higher speeds probably because of the quality of our line which openreach are unlikely to improve unless a fault occurs. No need for any further posts unless anyone has any new ideas to contribute.

This may be a long shot but no one has mentioned are you measuring the download speed on from the phone line input socket with no extensions plugged in.  An extension with a TAM, You View box, Sky box etc, etc  some of these have a high REN loading rateing which pulls the line down. Chris

Yes, this is measured from the main socket with nothing else connected (extensions etc.) and as reported by hh6 and adslchecker.

I think your only answer with BT I had a similar problem and it was a corroded temination junction box between cabinet and my house. I could not get much done until it began to cause noise and drop outs on the telephone reception. Afterwards the line data speed increased significantly. Chris

I repeat I am not saying your neighbour cannot have a 60mb connection but if he has then post dslchecker stats using neighbours phone number not post code or address and that will end the matter once and for all

No, even posting the stats won’t satisfy the trolls. They’ll then just query the distance which i can’t prove without posting the address.

It’s a shame that just a couple of contributors focus only on attacking the premise of the question rather than providing any useful comments.

Luckily, others have been much more helpful and solved the problem for me. I suspect the trolls will never be satisfied and will just keep posting the same things over and over. I’m not going to respond to them any more as it obviously just encourages them.

I’ll gladly respond to anyone with genuinely helpful comments though.
