MyBT and email login - Trusted device not working for 2-Step Authentication

Hi

I set up 2-Step authentication yesterday, and after entering the provided passcode and confirming that the device I was using was private (Windows 10 with Chrome), everything was fine and subsequent logons using same device/browser worked fine without need for a passcode.

However, today everytime I log on via same device/browser I an required to enter the passcode. I tried disabling 2-Step Auth and re-enabling - no change; tried removing the Trusted device entry, and then re-adding - no change.

I tried it with a different browser (Edge) - still not working and requires passcode at every logon though the device is shown as trusted.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Andy

Check that your browsers are not clearing cookies when they close. If they do it will clear out the cookie that registers your device as a Trusted Device.

Re: MyBT and email login - Trusted device not working for 2-Step Authentication

Hi

Thanks for your suggestion. The browsers are not clearing the cookies - in fact the problem occurs without closing the browser -  just logging on, setting as Trusted, log off without closing tab or window, log on again and the request for passcode still happens. I will keep digging.

Thanks

Re: MyBT and email login - Trusted device not working for 2-Step Authentication

I too am having trouble with this as well.

Devices I setup yesterday require me to get a passcode. Device names I put in previously are now invalid .

The system is more trouble than its worth how do I turn it off completely please, is there a toggle switch somewhere ?
