Re: Need some help (bt infinity, speed from 36 to 14)

I beleive  the usual helpful router stats are not available from Infinity router

and that less than 10 days means speed could go up or down

if it persists ten I think only the forum mods could help

Re: Need some help (bt infinity, speed from 36 to 14)

Few Minutes ago I decided to do some tests:

Results:

21 MEG

Then this happens:

31 MEG

Finally, this happens too,

42 MEG

Average upload speed is 8mb (UPLOAD SPEED STAYS THE SAME, I ASKED ONE OF MY FRIENDS (WHO WORKS FOR BT, he said it is because upload doesn't use fibre technology!

It uses the same old ethernet cable connection, but I am alright with the upload speed as they said the limit is 10 mb, but the limit for download is 40 mb not 45 or 47 (i was getting 47 the other day)

Re: Need some help (bt infinity, speed from 36 to 14)

Your BT friend is incorrect, both voice and data share the same copper pair back to the new DSLAM cabinet, at which point your voice follows the original copper path back to the exchange and your data, both upload and download, follow the new fibre path. It is an asynchronous service. 8 meg up is pretty good- I'm getting about 6.5 Mbps.

Re: Need some help (bt infinity, speed from 36 to 14)

Check several servers....

I just ran a check using a London server (I live in London) and got a speed of 3.5MBps.

Tried servers in Coventry and manchester and got over 35MBps!!!

Re: Need some help (bt infinity, speed from 36 to 14)

because you cant access your modem stats the only way to check your max throughput is to do a speedtest. But this is also subject to bandwidth/congestion.

I suggest doing a test at midnight, when everyone else is asleep.

Re: Need some help (bt infinity, speed from 36 to 14)

Use the BT speed test to see what your IP profile is set to if it is still 30+ you are good and just need to find a uncongested server to test your throughput properly. I have found that with some speedtesters repeat testing just get you faster and faster throughput reports clearly something not right there. If you IP profile has been reduced to 14 Mbps, and I do not think this is the case for you, then you do have a problem and BT need to check you line for errors.
