Net Protect

Hi this is my first post on the BT forum.

I have BT Net Protect and it is preventing me from installing the software for my HP scanner. The original software is not compatible with my PC so HP have provided me with updated software. HP have told me the problem is caused by my security, and told me to uninstall the security, then install the software for my scanner, obviously to reinstall the security afterwards.

I've had a look round in areas such as the control panel etc but I do not know how to remove the security. Can I switch the security off in some way so that it does not cause a problem with the installation of the other software for my scanner, then switch on the security again? I do not want to have to go through all the hassle of uninstalling and reinstalling security if there is an easier way.

Re: Net Protect

Hi TR2 and welcome

Depending on your OS navigate to (XP) Add/Remove Programs or (Vista and W7) Programs and Features

Look for BT Netprotect Plus and uninstall it

Then use this McAfee removal tool -
Click Save and save the file to a folder on your PC/Laptop, close all BT Netprotect windows (if open), then open the folder where the file was saved.

Then double-click MCPR.exe to run the removal tool.
NOTE: Windows Vista users must right-click MCPR.exe and select Run as Administrator.

Once the removal tool has finished it's important to restart your PC/Laptop.

To reinstall it, click this link -
