Hi newbie please help
Have tried to download NPP and get to screen to enter username / pword. Have read other problem posts so have uninstalled AVG and restarted. Have shut off windows firewall so unprotected. Message repeatedly comes back they will come back and notify me to download. Screen goes no further. No notifications as yet and have been waiting 24 hours. No other protection software installed either. Am on IE9.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I take it you've done the following....?
Used the primary account holders username and password (email details)
Ran the AVG removal tool - there is a link to a removal tool here - http://avgforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1167
I've never heard of a prompt regarding that they'll notify you
I've run the AVG removal from the link thanks. I restarted and tried again and got to the same screen after signing in as primary account holder/pword. The message screen says the following:
" We're processing your BT NetProtect Plus activation.
We've received your request and we'll notify you with download instructions as soon as the activation is completed (bit about security omitted) ....... No action is needed from you now."
All sounds a bit suss to me. Any ideas??
Are you on option 1 broadband?
If so you only get BT Netprotect, not BT Netprotect Plus - unless you pay extra for it
Can't say I've ever seen the message you're getting.
Try Malwarebytes - look for the filehippo download, but uncheck any unwanted extras as it downloads.
Run it and then try again
edit. Doh, it could be that you're a new customer and the BT system is playing catch up!!
Problem solved... came home to find message from BT that they were ready for me now?!? Clicked on the link and this time got through the problem screen and got NPP downloaded and installed. Not sure what it was all about but now fixed. Thanks for time and effort.
I'd guess what I wrote in my edit was the reason.......
