Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB adapter

I have just set up a BT homehub 3 and the local Maplin store recommended the Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB adapter.

The performance is dire. The homehub is only 2 metres from my pc in the same room. Is this the wrong adapter or do I need to set it up in some way?

Any help would be realkly appreciated.

If you mean dual 2.4 and 5Ghz bands, then you will be disappointed, as the home hub only operates on the 2.4GHz band.

You only need a standard single band wireless "n" adapter like the TP-Link TL-WN722N 150Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Adapter

Which cost about £12.

I am not sure if Maplin do the one I mentioned, but its available from other vendors, and is recommended by other forum members, as it has an external aerial.
