Netgear router won't connect

Go to solution

I have been trying to use a Netgear AC1900 R6800 router in place of the Smart Hub 6 on my Infinity 3 (up to 200Mbps) line, but it just won't connect to the internet.  Is there something I need to know to make the connection work, or is this router not compatible with Infinty 3? I had expected connection to be automatic with the default settings.

If the latter, what third party routers are known to work with Infinity 3?

It should work, the Internet settings you need are:

username -  bthomehub@btbroadband.com

password -  bt

PPPoE

and possibly  VLAN ID     101    this is unlikely required but just in case.

The ports all support 1 Gigabit so fine for the 200Mbps.

As it's a Netgear don't expect IPv6 to work properly.

Many thanks. I was confused about username etc.

It's working fine now.
