Process of elimination. Plug your laptop in to the cable that feeds into you Ethernet switch upstairs. If that works it means the cable feeding that is ok. Plug switch back in and see if you get a feed out of each port to see if the switch is OK. It is OK plug into the cable that feeds each of their devices in turn to see if it works etc etc.
Right will do that, i had a powerline adapter which i have used to get my lad going up to(he's on third florr) and got his main concern going. Daughters wifi at the mo until i can get this sorted, cheers for the help.
Sorted, thanks for the help mate, appreciated. From the hub to the front bedroom was fine, then from their into my daughters no connection.
On further investigation i could see the leg of her bunk bed was on the cable, must have over time damaged it.

Glad to hear you got it sorted. If you are running cable you are best to try and run it along close to the skirting board to avoid it being damaged.
