New Account/Line - Same Property - 15% Less Speed

Hi there I would just like to enquire as to why I have a 15% speed drop from a consistent 74 for over a year down to 50-64. I am testing with several devices i.e. new top of the range gaming pc and modern samsung notebook laptop with a cat6 ethernet cable, and also 2 sony xperia phones (z1/z5) via wifi. I'm using various speed tests including, uswitch and the bt wholesale all bringing back similar results noted above.


I moved in with my in-laws aprx 1 year ago and shortly after that they moved out and I inherited their bt bill, I decided to keep the service running until it expired so I could then set-up an account in my own name with the exact same services. I done this a few weeks ago, I gave them the required notice period and called up on the day the old account disconnected to set-up an account in my name with the exact same services (Bt Infinity 2, evening & weekend for £48 Pm). I was sent out the quickstart order wich was the new home hub 5 (which I already had and requested that i didnt need the new one) anyway, the service was put on a few weeks ago and I have been monitoring the speeds and noticed they are ranging between 50 & 64 even during off-peak hours. I never disconnected the previous home hub 5 or even fiddled with the line, I just left it as it was until it activated.


I am ever so curios as to why I'm not getting the consistent 74 that I was getting previously, thats a decrease of 15% (12Mb's) thats a hell of a drop in speed dont you think?

Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results. Make sure you delete your phone number before posting.

and use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.


As you have a Homehub 5 can you also post the stats from 1-12 by logging onto the Homehub management pages then troubleshooting > helpdesk. http://bthomehub.home/
