New AntiVirus

Do you think BT are going to partner with a new antivirus provider? McAfee is rubbish and doesn't detect anything Smiley Frustrated maybe Bitdefender Smiley Very Happy like that is going to happen. But seriously new provider?!?!?!

Re: New AntiVirus

Do you have a problem with the BT product, or are you just wanting to start a general discussion?

Re: New AntiVirus

Yes the reviews & expert tests reviews are rubbish. I have bitdefender free edition and it is nice but not the full version and if BT would change the provider it would be nice to have a full suite of security (instead of windows firewall and windows defender)

Re: New AntiVirus

I just use Microsoft Security Essentials, but I am sure you will get feedback from other forum members on which is best, but I doubt that BT will change provider.

Personally, any anti-virus that uses less resources is all you need. Any new viruses/key loggers aren't detected for a long while all you really need to do is protect yourself from shells and just don't visit dumb websites.

Re: New AntiVirus

I got fed up with  most of them years ago. All have good and bad points.

Then I decided to move the entire family over to Macs.

Now I am happy.

Re: New AntiVirus

Patching is the most important thing to do these days. Secunia PSI will help you a lot.

If you must install an AV solution, have a look at Security Essentials.

Don't forget to run regular onsite and offsite backups.

Re: New AntiVirus

People have various problems with BT's offerings and generally you have to sympathise. But not with NetProtect. It's awful but you don't pay extra for it, it's not compulsory, and there are plenty of superior, free alternatives.
