New BT Mail

I seem to have been transferred to the new BT Mail.

  1. It appears to have linked all emails with the same Subject heading together regardless of whether they are in the same chain of emails,
  2. When a new email comes in it is initially displayed as if it is from the first person in the chain (which in some cases is 4 years ago). It does not display the name & date of the actual sender.
  3. Searches by name & date range do not give results that make any sense.

I don't see how this has improved the way BT Mail looks or made it simpler to use.

Requested assistance from UK helpdesk who referred me to the Calcutta helpdesk who failed to ring me back in allotted time slot.

How can a new product be released without the appropriate testing being carried out?

Any suggestions on how to resolve this as I don't seem to be doing well so far?

You will not have been transferred to the new BTMail. The transfer/migration of BTYahoo email accounts to BTMail has stopped.

What will have happened is that you are now using the new UI (User interface) or webpage for BTMail.

If you go to the menu bar and click on "View" and scroll down to "none" this should give you a better lay out and stop them being "linked".

As regards the search facility. Have you tried clicking on the down arrow to the right of the search box. This will give you a drop down box with options for your search criteria.

According to the BT Help I have the page format which tells me I have been transferred to BT Mail!

I have tried changing the view from right but it did not delink all the chained emails. Also I prefer the layout of "Right" as it also gives the details of the selected email.

I used the search facility again with the same results! It would appear that the linking of the emails may have been  done as I was transferred from one system to another.

You have not been transferred from one email system to the other. That is no longer happening.

If you were previously on the BTYahoo email system and if you were transferred onto the BTMail email system that would have happened in 2014. If you have become a BT customer after 2014 you would be on the BTMail system.

As I have previously stated, you will now be using the new BTMail user interface (web page) The new interface is being rolled out to BTMail customers in batches and it would appear that your email is now viewed through that interface. 

EDIT: If you go to the "view" and click on "Conversation view" it should un link the emails.

Calcutta finally got back to me & came to the same conclusion as you, that at some stage the Conversation view had been selected. This has now been deselected and all the chained emails have been delinked.

Looks much better.
