New BT TV set up. picture definition poor .

I am considering swapping from SKY HD and am trialling  BT TV.
The BT top box was installed using Mini Connector kit to BTHub6-27PN and the same aerial connection as was used for  the Sky box for terrestrial channels. First impressions are that the picture quality is poor , there are also momentary disruptions to sound and vision every few seconds, which also occurred whilst following the on screen set up instructions. Suggestions for possible causes would be welcome

Are he disruptions on the Freeview channels or that extra channels delivered through your Broadband?

So far as I can tell from very limited trial the disruptions are associated with the broadband connect or the box itself.

They were certainly occurring during the presentation of the systems capabilities which I assume came through broadband but remained when I switched to ITV3 channel. l gave up the as my wife wanted to watch Sky!

That hasn't answered the question that I asked so I can't offer any further advice.

Sorry about that. I will repose the question when I have explored the system further.

@RGCAston  - you say the same ariel connection as was used for the SKY box. Surely all the broadcast channels for the SKY box come from a satellite feed, so it would be difficult to know the quality of the RF feed.

what resolution can your tv display and what resolution have you got the BT box outputting at?

The BT Box was connected to the same wall socket  as was used when we elected to view terrestrial channels instead of SKY. Channels. so I know the wall socket is OK.

@RGCAston the twin tuners in the Youview box require more signal strength and quality than a single tuner in TV.  Whilst on a channel that you're experiencing pixelating on, go to Settings and select TV SIGNAL QUALITY... What are the signal strength and quality?

pixilation is not the problem at present, the problem is more like momentary buffering or freeze but I will try the signal strength test when I can. Thanks.

Re: New BT TV set up. picture definition poor .

Your signal strength could be fluctuating and may either be too slightly too weak or even too strong. Most likely too weak if it's fluctuating.  Signal strength should be over 60% and signal quality wants to be as close to 100% as possible.

If the signal strength is too low a powered signal amplifier may help. If it's too high, an attenuator should help.
