Some less intelligent switches are also throttled down if a 100Mbps port is being used, it prevents other devices from negotiating full duplex for 1000Mbps.
Lots of manufacturers previously cut costs by using lower spec chipsets. I have a 2018 flagship Samsung QLED set which doesn’t have Gigabit connectivity.
